REFLECTION FOR PORTFOLIO PIECE 6 & 7

We were asked to create our own video for a classroom instruction which would run for 3-5 minute for any lesson we wish.  Our video should contain music/audio and still pictures and each video must contain a title, captions and appropriate credits and include animations and transitions to our movie.  Specific instructions were given for us to follow in getting the portfolio piece #6 completed.  Creating this piece was a difficult task due to the fact that I had an idea how to complete the task but putting it in to place was challenging.  The appropriate lesson had to be chosen along with finding appropriate videos for the topic.  Where a video is concerned I downloaded a video from you tube but this video could not be uploaded to the movie maker because the file was not supported by the computer’s programme.  I also experienced problems making this video because it was freezing and not saving.  I am pretty much grateful that I got this assignment because this actual information allows us to create new ways to grasp our student’s attention in the classroom through the use of a movie maker.  Movie maker video resources better accommodate audio/visual learners and maximize learning for students with different learning styles.  Movie making process involves selecting which pieces of the video you will use and choosing the transitions that will go in between.  Movie Maker allows budding directors to give credit where credit is due. Remind the child to list himself and anyone else he likes in the credits. Students have access over the internet: at home, at the library, or even when travelling.  By doing this students will acquired and develop positive academic self-concepts, develop technological skills and encourage active participation and learner-centered focus.  Based on the knowledge acquired from this portfolio piece #6, teachers could use this information to later evaluate student’s learning process and cognitive skills.

In portfolio piece #7, we were asked to create a wiki is a new and innovative classroom tool that can be used for classroom instruction and reinforcement.  A simple wiki that can be used for classroom instruction and should have a home page with at least 3 additional pages, at least one hyperlink to a web resource on your wiki as well as a video or audio.  Our wiki should have a home page with at least 3 additional pages and insert at least one hyperlink to a web resource on our wiki as well as a video or audio.  Creating the wiki was fun and exciting and it is a way for us to create an exciting way to interact with our students but faced a bit of a problem with uploading my video to the wiki. However, it was a challenged setting up the site map where you could be directed to which ever page you would like to locate.  A wiki can be to improved instructions by placing key information that students can access to and gain knowledge of any topic.  It also provides the medium to post videos and pictures for visual emphasis of the topic being covered along with pages that will send them directly to a site.  Teacher should consider using wiki which could track student’s willingness and to see how motivated they are in the subject are and lesson provided.
